NEW: Fifth Poll in One Month Shows Hinojosa Leading Abbott Days Out from Early Voting
Austin, TX – Five new polls in the last month show Gina Hinojosa leading Greg Abbott in the race for Texas Governor. A new poll from GBAO – which follows public polls from NYT/Siena, YouGov, NPR/Marist, and ReconMR/Siena – has Hinojosa beating Abbott by two points despite being outspent 10-to-1. While Abbott burns through $146 million from corrupt donors, Hinojosa is crisscrossing the state and building her support from the ground up.
Key Findings:
- Three weeks from Election Day, Hinojosa leads Abbott 47% to 45% among likely voters. Her lead over Abbott is built, in part, on wide margins with Independents +24 (52% to 28%) and Latinos +28 (58% to 30%).
- The more voters get to know Hinojosa, the more they like her. Hinojosa’s favorability is increasing across the board, including +30 among Latino voters (compared to Abbott’s -25) and +32 among Independents.
- Despite attacks, Hinojosa’s favorability stays strong at +12 as her name ID has increased to 79%.
“Going into early voting, Texans are more excited than ever for change,” Hinojosa said. “These polls prove what we’ve always known: the more voters get to know this campaign, the more they support me. From now until Election Day, our campaign will continue building momentum and support as we travel the state, meet directly with voters, and talk about how together we can secure the American Dream in Texas by saving our public schools and putting money in people’s pockets. With less than a week until the start of early voting, Texans are fired up and ready for change.”
