RELEASE: Hinojosa Raises Over $1 Million in 36 Hours after New Poll Shows Her Leading Texas Governor’s Race

Austin, TX – 36 hours after a ReconMR/Siena poll showed Democratic nominee for Texas Governor Gina Hinojosa winning the Texas Governor’s race at 49-45%, Hinojosa raised more than a million dollars.

“The momentum behind this campaign is real,” said Hinojosa. “My message is resonating because Texans are ready for a change and ready for a Governor that will put them first. I am running to secure the American Dream in Texas by saving our public schools and putting money in your pocket with an economy built for the people, not billionaires.”

The ReconMR/Siena poll is the tenth poll in six weeks to show Hinojosa within the margin of error, and the first in Greg Abbott’s career to show him down in an election year. This continues the trend of key voting blocks breaking for Hinojosa because they know so long as we have a Governor who can be bought, we’ll never have the Texas we deserve. 

In the 36 hours since the poll, the Hinojosa campaign received over $1 million with the largest ever increase of first time donors to the campaign with more than 5,000 people joining our people powered movement. The massive influx only grows Hinojosa’s people-powered fund, which stands in stark contrast to Abbott’s corrupt warchest, which is built one state contract at a time. As more voters get to know Hinojosa, they continue to support a campaign focused on building a better life for Texans.
