TEXAS TOSS UP: Real Clear Politics Shifts Governor’s Race to “Toss Up” as Hinojosa’s Momentum Surges

Austin, TX – Following new polling from ReconMR/Siena showing Gina Hinojosa leading the Texas Governor’s race by 4 points, Real Clear Politics moved the race for Texas Governor to a “Toss Up.”

“This is a watershed moment in Texas,” Hinojosa told Morning Joe. “It feels like we are entering into a post-partisan era because people are disappointed by both parties, and they’re just looking for a candidate who will work for them.” While on the campaign trail, Hinojosa has connected with Texans across the aisle about Abbott letting data centers take over Texas, using Flock cameras to develop his own surveillance state, and selling out public schools with his billionaire-donor backed school voucher scam. 

The move follows 10 polls in three weeks showing the race in a virtual tie, including last week’s Siena poll – the first-ever poll showing a Democrat leading Greg Abbott in an election year in his political career. Since launching, Hinojosa has closed the gap from an 8-point race to consistently within the margin of error as Texans get to know her and are behind her.
