Hinojosa on MS NOW: “Republicans in Texas Have No Game”
Austin, TX – This weekend, Gina Hinojosa joined The Weekend and The Assignment on MS NOW to discuss the race for Texas governor heating up – with new polling showing the race tied at 47-47 – and her trip connecting with Texans in Big Bend while Abbott entertained DC billionaires at the RNC.

“We are dealing with a system where the governor gives his donors $1 billion in no-bid contracts,” Hinojosa told The Weekend. “This is their playbook, right? More and more taxpayer dollars to their donors, and Texans get less and less. We are paying into a system – the federal government, the state government – that is now working against us.”
On how she’s connecting with Republicans, Hinojosa said, “I’m meeting with MAGA Republicans who are really mad that data centers are the latest physical manifestation of a governor and a government that is working against us and working for the moneyed special interests.”

Texans “feel cut off from power” under Greg Abbott, Hinojosa said on The Assignment. In the Big Bend region, “they have no voice in Congress because Greg Abbott didn’t call an election. They don’t know who to talk to. They don’t know what’s to come. They don’t trust Greg Abbott.”
“I would use every tool in the toolbox” to defend Big Bend, Hinojosa added, “including taking the federal government to court to defend our sovereignty here in Texas. This is our land, our inheritance, our birthright, and the federal government should not be coming in and cutting off Texans from their property rights and from our parks.”
