Abbott Continues Hiding From His Record and Texas Voters, Too Scared to Debate Gina Hinojosa
AUSTIN, TX – 10 days before the proposed Nexstar/KXAN News gubernatorial debate and one month before the proposed NBCUniversal/Hearst gubernatorial debate, Democratic nominee for Texas Governor Gina Hinojosa released the following statement today.
“Greg Abbott won’t debate me because he is a weak governor with a failed record of rising property taxes, gutting public schools, and giving data centers the biggest tax break in the country to run rampant across our communities,” Hinojosa said. “Abbott has had 12 years to deliver for Texans and instead has spent every day doing the bidding of his billionaire donors at the expense of working people. Seven weeks of campaign lies and a speech in front of his party bosses won’t change the fact that Texans in every community, every party, and every poll have made it clear: they are ready for change.”
Last week, Abbott once again cleared his schedule to benefit his DC party bosses while refusing to defend his record and face Texas voters on the debate stage. Abbott has failed to respond to debate proposals from the following outlets:
- NBCUniversal/Telemundo Owned Television Stations in Texas and Hearst Newspapers in Texas
- Nexstar Media Group and KXAN News
- Spectrum News
- KVUE
