RECAP: Gina Hinojosa Rallies Over a Thousand Texans in East Texas

NACOGDOCHES, TX – This week, Democratic nominee for Texas Governor Gina Hinojosa campaigned in East Texas, meeting directly with voters and community leaders across Corsicana, Longview, Crockett, and Nacogdoches. Throughout the trip, Hinojosa emphasized the importance of serving every region of the state and being a governor for every Texan, regardless of their party affiliation.

Starting in Corsicana, Hinojosa met with MAGA Republicans fighting against data centers being built in their communities, listening to their concerns and highlighting how she would use the power of the governor’s office to uplift the voices of rural communities against global corporations encroaching on Texas land.

Hinojosa then met with Palestine Mayor Mitchell Jordan to discuss the issues facing the city and hear directly about the needs of the local community. In recent weeks, Greg Abbott failed to reach out to Mayor Jordan – the first Black mayor of Palestine – during a campaign stop in the city.

Hinojosa ended Tuesday hosting an overflowing rally in Longview, which attracted Texans from both Gregg County and surrounding deep-red rural counties. “All across the state, what we’re hearing is that people want change,” said Hinojosa. “Come November, we will end Greg Abbott’s 30-year political career.”

On Wednesday, Hinojosa rounded out the trip with a town hall in Nacogdoches, where she laid out her priorities for Texas, including strengthening public schools, lowering costs for working families, and ending the decades of corruption that have prevented Texans from having access to the opportunities they deserve. “We need a clean slate and a fresh start,” said Hinojosa. “It’s going to take all of us, but we need to rebuild a Texas that works for us. We pay for it — it should be working for us.”
