Abbott’s RNC appearance comes amid the first tied poll in Texas Governor’s race and four pending debate requests 

Austin, TX – Today, Democratic nominee for Texas Governor Gina Hinojosa released the following statement in response to Greg Abbott peddling election-year lies, useless culture wars, and ignoring the needs of Texans to appease his billionaire donors at the RNC.

“Greg Abbott continues to show just how out of touch he is with Texans,” Hinojosa said. “At a time when working people are struggling under Abbott’s agenda of giving data centers the biggest tax breaks in the country, shuttering neighborhood public schools, and enabling Flock cameras to surveil Texans without cause, he’s patting himself on the back at an event where the cheapest ticket is $20,000. Less than two months from Election Day, Abbott’s making it clear he doesn’t care what Texans need – only what his billionaire donors want. No amount of culture war nonsense and capitulation to Washington elites is going to change the fact that Abbott’s record has hurt Texans so badly that he’s too scared to debate me – as he should be.”
