Hinojosa on MS NOW’s The Weeknight: “Abbott is a Weak Governor.”
Hinojosa: “The people of Texas know their worth, and they’re fighting to make change.”
Austin, TX – Last night, Gina Hinojosa joined MS NOW’s The Weeknight to discuss what’s at stake in the Texas governor’s race as Republicans plan to further gerrymander the state and costs continue to skyrocket thanks to Greg Abbott’s corruption, leaving him at the lowest approval rating of his career.

“Texas Republican leadership has already said they’re coming back next year to redraw congressional maps to take five more seats and flip them to Republican,” said Hinojosa. “We need a governor who will veto their rigged maps, especially after the U.S. Supreme Court decision last month that gutted the Voting Rights Act.”
Republicans, Hinojosa said, “are scared. They don’t want to run against me, so they don’t talk about me. Abbott is a weak governor. He can’t break 50% in any poll that’s been released in this campaign. He knows his record. His record is: we have more people than any other state who are disconnected from their electricity. We have the most uninsured people. We have the most uninsured children. We have the most bankruptcies in our state. That is Greg Abbott’s record. He owns it.”
Hinojosa added, “I’m running to save Texas schools, holding down our utility costs by making corporations pay their fair share – including the data centers – and ensuring every Texas child has access to affordable health care.”
