STATEMENT: Hinojosa On Momentum In Local Elections Across Texas
Austin, TX – Following this weekend’s local elections in communities across Texas, Gina Hinojosa released the following statement:
“Texans across the state are taking back our communities from Greg Abbott and the politicians who have sold out our schools and spent more time serving their donors than serving the people. In local elections from the Gulf Coast to North Texas, voters are throwing out the candidates beholden to Greg Abbott’s corrupt agenda. This is the coalition that’s going to send Greg Abbott packing in November. Don’t let anyone tell you change can’t happen in Texas, because it already is.”
This weekend’s results speak for themselves:
- In Pearland, TX, Quentin Wiltz was elected mayor in a Republican stronghold.
- In Arlington, TX, Brittney Garcia-Dumas flipped a city council seat in the 5th district.
- In Grapevine, TX, Matthew White, Lindsey Sheguit, and Darrell Brown ousted GOP-aligned incumbents on the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board of Trustees.
- In Denton, TX, Jordan Villarreal won a city council seat in the 1st district and Anita Martinez-Strickland won a seat on the Denton ISD Board of Trustees.
- In San Antonio, TX, Michael Adam Wulczyn and Caprice Garcia ousted GOP-aligned incumbents on the North East ISD Board of Trustees.
- In Travis County, TX, Tiffany Bennett and Natalie Nugent ousted GOP-aligned incumbents on the Lake Travis ISD Board of Trustees.
These results reflect a growing wave of Texans who are fed up with the status quo of corrupt leaders who put politics over the people. From city councils to school boards, Texans are choosing leaders who will fight to lower costs and strengthen schools – and this momentum is only growing as we get closer to November.
