NEW: Hinojosa on Morning Joe: Texans are hurting, and they lay the blame at Abbott’s feet
AUSTIN, TX – This morning, Gina Hinojosa joined Morning Joe to discuss how costs are rising under Greg Abbott’s leadership – everything from gas to healthcare to utilities. Voters lay the blame firmly at Abbott’s feet, and it’s leading to record turnout for Democrats in historically Republican strongholds across the state.

“In Texas, people are struggling mightily,” Hinojosa said. “We have the most people being disconnected from their electricity of any other state. We have the most people without health insurance, the most children without health insurance.”
Hinojosa pointed to signs of a shifting political landscape, noting historic Democratic turnout across the state. “People want change, and they’re showing up and voting for it… Democrats overperformed Republicans in turnout, which hasn’t happened in a long, long time. This year is different – we’re seeing it happen in real time on the ground.”
Recent independent polling shows the race within 5 points, with Hinojosa winning independents, moderates, Latinos, and every key demographic Abbott needs to hold. Texans are making it clear: they’re ready to fire Greg Abbott and put Gina Hinojosa in the governor’s office.
