ICYMI: Hinojosa Packs the Room in Nacogdoches, Rallies East Texans
Nacogdoches, TX — Gina Hinojosa drew an overflow crowd to a packed rally in Nacogdoches this weekend, with East Texans pouring in from across the region. Hinojosa worked a full photo line after laying out her vision to strengthen public schools and lower costs for hardworking Texans.
Hinojosa told the crowd that under Abbott, Texans “pay more and get less” as property taxes keep climbing while state dollars flow to vendor contracts for Abbott’s donors. She pledged to wipe those contracts clean and redirect the savings to raise Texas teacher pay to among the highest in the nation, rein in data center costs that could drive up electricity bills, and draw down federal funds to insure about a million Texans and keep rural hospitals open.
The event came on the heels of Hinojosa calling on Governor Abbott to provide immediate relief for Texans by suspending the gas tax, which costs working Texans roughly $8 million per day.
East Texans know they deserve more: they love their neighborhood public schools, they work hard, and they want what’s best for their families – and they showed up in Nacogdoches to fight for the American Dream.
