Thousands of Texans Come Out to Support Hinojosa for 100 Days of Action

Austin, TX – This weekend, thousands of supporters across more than 50 counties mobilized for Democratic nominee for Texas Governor Gina Hinojosa to kick off the 100-day countdown to Election Day. Volunteers organized, canvassed, and spread the word about Hinojosa’s plans to save Texas public schools and put money in Texans’ pockets.

“This weekend, thousands of Texans sent a message: they’re done with Greg Abbott’s Texas, where billionaires get richer and working families get left behind,” Hinojosa said. “From now until Election Day, we’ll continue connecting with voters to ensure every single Texan knows the choice in front of them: more of the same corruption from Abbott, or a governor who fights for them. Texans are fired up, they’re organized, and on Election Day, they’re going to deliver change.”

The Hinojosa campaign partnered with local county parties along with Texas Together. In many counties, this is their first event of the cycle — some counties haven’t had an active event for a Democrat in years. This weekend, the campaign built relationships with more than 100 County Parties across the state and will work with our partner campaigns to ensure volunteers in every county have what they need to get out the vote this November.

El Paso Times: 100 days left in Texas governor race, Gina Hinojosa camp hits streets

• Armed with a handful of flyers, a group of El Paso Democrats braved the Sunday heat to block walk and bolster support for candidate for Texas governor Gina Hinojosa.
• As part of the “100 Days” Day of Action across the state, these supporters reached out to East El Paso residents on Sunday, July 26, to spread the word about the candidate and her platform.
• “Greg Abbott isn’t providing the funding necessary for our public schools and for teacher pay. Our students deserve better resources. For that reason, Greg Abbott has to go and that’s why I’m supporting Gina Hinojosa for governor,” Hernandez said.
• Julian Rivera, a volunteer from East El Paso characterized the energy around and groundswell support for Hinojosa as voters identifying with her story.
• “She’s a parent and has the experience as a state representative. Her background connects to many constituents. Much of this support has to do with the disdain people have for this governor and they’re looking for a change.”
• “Gina Hinojosa has a great deal in common with this community and I think it’s important for voters to rethink their misconceptions about the Democratic party. Candidates like Hinojosa are looking to discuss those kitchen table issues that resonate with this community,” Rivera said.
