Texas AFL-CIO Endorses Gina Hinojosa for Governor

Austin, TX — Yesterday, the Texas AFL-CIO announced its 2026 primary endorsement of Gina Hinojosa for Governor, backing her campaign to take on corporate power and fight for working Texans who have been left behind by Greg Abbott’s administration.

The endorsement comes as working families across Texas continue to struggle with rising costs while corporations post record profits. Under Greg Abbott’s leadership, the wealthy and well-connected have prospered while workers have been asked to sacrifice again and again.

“I’m humbled by the support of the Texas AFL-CIO—we’ve won some big fights together, and 2026 will be our biggest yet,” said Hinojosa. “This is a ‘which side are you on’ moment for Texas, and I know where I stand. Working people built this state and continue to power our economy. They deserve a governor who will fight for them, instead of billionaire interests. Through solidarity, we can make this state prosper and deliver for hard-working families across Texas.”

A proud member of CWA, Hinojosa fought tirelessly for workers as a civil rights attorney and as a Texas State Representative. She understands that when labor wins, the middle class wins, and has worked to win better wages and stronger protections. She saved the prevailing wage by fighting for Davis Bacon and stood on the picket line with Unite Here in 2025. Texas derserves a governor who gives working families the chance to thrive, and Gina Hinojosa will be that governor.

Meanwhile, Greg Abbott has spent over a decade helping billionaires get richer while working Texans struggle to make ends meet. He’s sided with corporate bosses over teachers, nurses, construction workers, and every other Texan who works for a living. This November, Texans have a clear choice to vote for a governor who is on the side of working Texans, Gina Hinojosa.
